DIY Toothpaste WORKSHOPS

Horizontal toothbrush layout.jpg

It’s funny how we can shop organic and switch to chemical-free deodorant, but then whip out a blue, sparkly toothpaste without a second thought... Take a look at the back of a conventional tube of toothpaste. There in the fine print you’ll see a warning: If accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control, an issue you won't have when making your own products!

Because everyone's needs are different, I've put together a few variations to choose from for this workshop :

Toothpaste packaging 3square.jpg
  • Whitening Toothpaste - With activated charcoal powder for a brighter smile!

  • Detox and Polishing Toothpaste - Bentonite clay absorbs toxins, polishes & remineralizes!

Price: 75 AED

Duration: 1 hour

Included: One tub of toothpaste & the recipes.

It's worth noting that these recipes have a different consistency from the store-bought toothpastes that you might be accustomed to, without the use of Sodium lauryl sulfate for example, these toothpastes do not foam.

The Key Ingredients:

  • Coconut Oil which can help boost the microbiome, kill bad breath, prevent cavities and reduce gum inflammation.

  • Bentonite Clay which is a natural polisher rich in minerals. Aids in the detoxification of heavy metals and toxins present in the mouth.

  • Baking Soda for its alkalinity. Neutralizing acids with is essential to maintaining proper pH in the mouth to encourage the right bacteria as well as protect enamel from decay.

  • Xylitol for its abilities to reduce cavity-causing bacteria and tooth decay.

  • Activated Charcoal Whitens teeth, removes stains and helps balance your oral microbiome.

  • Essential Oil Just a drop or two for its anti-bacterial properties & fresh breath! Choose between Orange, Cinnamon or Peppermint!

WHY MAKE THE SWITCH?

Many mainstream brands of toothpaste contain harmful or even toxic ingredients such as:

  • Triclosan, a pesticide and hormone disruptor.

  • Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which causes canker sores for many people.

  • Artificial colorings, Toothpaste does not need to be pink or blue

  • Fluoride, There are studies that lean both ways about the benefits of fluoride in toothpaste, but it can be toxic if swallowed

  • Highly abrasive ingredients which damage enamel, making teeth sensitive and more prone to gum recession and cavities.
