DIY Mojito Infused Rum

mojito_rum.JPG

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like every time I need fresh mint, the supermarket’s out of stock, which pretty much rules out any spur-of-the-moment Mojito whims…

Now with a bottle of this little concoction in my cupboard all I need is soda water & ice, which pretty much sums up the contents of my fridge right now.

The best part? It’s super easy to make and if you slap on these fancy hand drawn labels, they make a great (not to mention affordable) gift!

Now I used sticker paper, just because as a self-proclaimed paper junkie I'm the kind of person who happens to have that lying around, but don't let that intimidate you, normal paper & a glue stick works just fine!

Don't forget to fill out the date on the bottom label.

Peel the lime

Try to get only the green part of the skin, avoiding the white part which can cause bitterness

Insert lime zest & mint sprigs into bottle, using the funnel add in the rum & cane sugar.

Voilà, that’s literally all there is to it. Now we just have to wait…

Glue on your labels, leave the bottle in a dark cupboard on its side, turning it over about once a week so everything infuses evenly, and in a month (if you can wait that long) get some friends together, drink too many mojitos and dance on the tables!

Don’t be afraid to get creative! You can use the same process to infuse pretty much anything like fruit, spices, even candy! What's on your list to try? Let me know below!
