Have you ever wondered what goes into your paint? How early renaissance artist got hold of some of the world's most expensive and peculiar pigments? Learn more about the art of paint making at this month’s creative networking meetup with our special guest, Tilika D’souza of Studio Passepartout.
Every natural landscape has its own unique color palette. Throughout history artists have looked to nature as a source of inspiration, for their tools and most of their materials.
During a live demonstration, paint maker Tilika D’souza will explore the stages of making watercolour paint out of foraged rocks from the mountains of Sharjah. She’ll take us through the process of grinding, washing and mulling the rocks into pigment and turning pigment to paint.
Bring in your brushes and sketchbooks to try the freshly made paint at the end of the workshop.
Our monthly Craft Jams are a hybrid of co-working and networking sessions for creatives of all sorts.
Curious as to what a typical Craft Jam looks like? I think of it as a breeding ground for ideas and inspiration.
Open to all simply bring in supplies for your latest project and join us at one of Kave's large communal tables. Whether it be knitting, painting or graphic design, all mediums (including computers!) are welcome.
Our community aims to support fellow creatives, help make connections and raise awareness. Many new projects and collaborations were first discussed around that table and several members have participated in exhibitions thanks to open calls shared in our whatsapp and facebook groups!
There is a small participation fee of 20 dhs to help support our lovely community space offered by Kave and can be paid at the venue.
